Subject: End of term BBQ
Hi everyone -I have booked the big barbeque site at Coate Water park-a mere 10 minute walk from GWH for July 11th from 1pm onwards for the end of term/2nd termers farewell party.
Its pay on the day , so if it pours down there is the Sun Inn pub nearby.
Perhaps everyone could bring something to share?
(Also if anyone has a rounders bat would be good!)
See you soon
Angela

Subject: Topic for next Wednesday afternoon
You will have noticed that the website has been strangely silent about the topic for next Wednesday afternoon. Well, here it is......
Following on from your experience of some creative writing last week at Dorothy House, we are going to explore the topic a little more, with some more -
Rather than holding the usual groupwork session, on the last afternoon of term we will be running a session when we will be looking at what we might learn from the arts.
The idea is that as many of you as possible bring along an item to briefly present or discuss, and it should be something that has helped you as a doctor, or example by:
helping you to understand your role as a doctor, leader or team member; or
helping you to understand the experience of the patient; or
giving you a new insight into the doctor-patient relationship.
The “item” could be….
A piece of poetry – even better if it’s something you’ve written!
A piece of music - unless you bring a musical instrument and perform it, you would need to bring it on CD and select an excerpt for us to play
A book, play or film that you could talk about
A painting or sculpture - (either the real thing or an image that we could project on the screen?)
A piece of humour – we could always watch a short sketch if you brought it on DVD
One other option would be for a few of you to get together and plan a short sketch to perform to the rest of us – perhaps something to pull together how you feel about completing the term, or the year…
Assuming that most of you bring something (which we hope you will), we will only have a few minutes each, so please keep your items reasonably brief. We hope the session will open our eyes to different ways of learning.
Please email me (MHewett586@aol.com) with a brief note of what you are planning to bring so that we can plan the afternoon. See you then

Subject: Study leave budget
Dear All,
I am afraid not great news on this front...
The deanery's coffers have been raided yet again, and the target this time has
been GPR study leave budgets. Whilst the deanery will continue to pay for a
3-day MRCGP revision course, a family planning theory course and SA training day
for each GPR centrally the rest has been devolved down locally.
Sadly the amount sent to us just about covers the costs of the DRC Urchfont
residential - and nothing much else. Accordingly if you want to go on any
courses beyond those described above, you will probably need to pay for it
yourself. It would be worth checking with Paula to ensure that a miracle hasn't
happened in the meantime, but I would be surprised. This is in fact also the
situation in most other parts of the UK too.
Similarly there is no budget for either travel (other than from the car
allowance in the std GPR salary) or subsistence.
For TAGPRs in Swindon, we have some limited study leave funding still. If you
want to use this, please talk to Jon directly.
All rather depressing, but the course organisers and I thought you should know.

I often receive calls from SHOs regarding the Performers list. Although the practices should provide their new Registrar with all the info about this, some fail to do so.
These are the contact details of the person who deals with the Performers list at each PCT. This may be useful for the Regs/SHOs to apply for an application or to chase up any queries they may have regarding the process.
Here are the contact details:

I recommend that you take a look at www.onexamination.com which is the leading online learning resource. Many GPRs use the site in preparation for the MRCGP and Summative Assessment.
They have specialist courses comprising of thousands of questions, many based on past exam topics.
They also offer a very popular 'Question of the day' feature which I'm sure you will find useful.
The link for their MRCGP area is: http://www.onexamination.com/site/MRCGP.asp

Dear Dr Nearney,
The College has taken over most of the functions of the JCPTGP, so please send
your completed VTR1 form to us. The address is the same as the old JCPTGP.
RCGP
1st Floor
19 Buckingham St
London
WC2N 6EF
When you send your completed VTR1 form to the above address could you also send
a CCT registration form which can be found on the RCGP web site. Since you are
already an Associate Member you will be refunded the cost of your membership
from the full payment of £350 pounds. So in effect you will be returned the £75
you paid for membership. As of yet there is no system to link the two payments,
I apologise for this, but rest assured that you will get a full refund.
Any further questions you can call us on 020 7930 7228 between the hours of 2pm
and 5pm.
